Well I have to say that sounds awesome. I made a post earlier this year about Close Combat and its game mechanics and it sounds like some of these have definitely made there way in. I fear it'll play like a dog in multiplayer though. My only hope is that I suspect that CA UK is more reliable.

Very pretty ship battle...looks a tad fast to my very experienced 18th century naval eyes :P But over all I do bloody like it.

Looks like the pope wont be quite the annoyance anymore. No historical battles either. I like the dragoon unit :)

Most likely no. Atleast the RAM and graphic card might end up being an issue.

Judge and Duck are right, get some Ram m8 its sooo cheap these days. Might as well get 3 or 4 gigs with the great prices. The video cards are also falling in price quite severely...can get an 8800gt for around a $110 US dollars!! I've seen 8800gs for $62 :D. Wow! If you are really cheap like me....an 8600gt for $49.00 and you likely wont need a new power supply for it. The bigger 8800's most likely will need 450watts or more.

Definitely get your ram now as they are practically giving the stuff away right now. You could wait and see the actual game requirements before you buy your video card, but I'm confident that the 8600gt will be able to play it. I enjoy watching the prices and pouncing when I see a particularly good one.

The 8600gt (make sure it is the ddr3 version) is about 7 times faster than the RADEON X300. The 8800's are about 2 to 2.5 times faster than the 8600 and just last spring the 8800's were considered the crème de la crème.

Radeon has just come out with the 4850-$170/4870-$260 which I would consider the elite now... at least in the reasonably sane priced category.

Here is a link to one of my favorite hardware info sites if you have an interest in that sort of thing.

The important thing here is to figure out what your motherboard is and what it supports. The newest components can end up being worthless if your motherboard doesn't support them.

Bloody good rig Sir Judge, your fleets will be looking sharp no doubt.

Mine is extremely cost effective first and formost:
Dell E521
AMD Dual core x2 3800
3 gig Crucial ddr2 5300
evga 8600gt ddr3 256mb
stock 300watt power supply

shopping for a nice lcd...Samsung likely...cant decide between a 20 or a 22inch. 20 gets a bit better picture .258 pixel pitch as opposed to .282 on the 22's. But more real estate is always preferred. What type of displays do you guys use?

Apple makes good stuff, but it is pricey and generally upgrade options will be restricted. Actually you will be first gamer I know on an apple platform, most Apple guys I know are into art/imaging/music. I'm curious how well it will do gaming.

I wouldnt worry, from what I understand in Totalwar multiplayer, all the players pc's are synced together. With the slowest pc and the slowest internet connection being the main determining factors on how laggy the game is for everyone. We all share the same poor cav response fairly equally. Sure miss the old VI cav tho :(

This is a very good discussion on the AI and campaign improvements.

"For example - ensuring that fighting the French *actually feels like* fighting the French, as opposed to battling Native Americans, or other factions who might and should behave very differently - in terms of how they form, how they move and use the units and special abilities under their disposal, and how they react to the player's actions. On this side of things, we've done a lot of research into genuine historical tactics, and worked these into the game engine as unique Faction-based and Admiral/General-based battle tactics for the first time."

Precisely what I have been wanting in the Total war series! Here is the link below.
